Pool restoration project [calcium scale removal 3000 SQ of pool tile]

Overview

Our client [a premier pool design and restoration company] was hired by a local state university to restore an aging pool at it’s aquatic center located at the main student recreation center. The goal of the project was to replace the interior pool surface and to restore the original tile around the water level of the pool to enhance it’s esthetic appearance. Due to extensive amount of calcium scale on the tile they were afraid they would have to remove the calcium buildup with muriatic acid. We were successful at blasting all 3,000 square feet of tile in six hours removing all of the calcium scale while preserving the integrity of the original tile. The end result was brand new looking tile without the use of harsh chemicals.

Goals of the Project

  1. Remove years of calcium build up on the tiles surrounding the top of the pool
  2. Restore the original pool tile to it’s near original condition without scratching the tile
  3. Conduct the restoration within budget and under a tight timeline for completion
